The magnetic stand with its flexible arms is a hand tool. If on a metal surface, the magnet lever can enable the magnetic base to attract with surface providing a fixed reference measurement even from vertical base attachment. The flexible joints also assist positioning the measuring device at the best possible angle and height so comparison height measurements. There are swivel ball joints as part of the flexing design on this device that offer more possible adjustments of angle and orientation of end clamp holding the measuring device.
